Biography

Kian Magana, a Pasadena native, always knew he would one day return to his hometown to open his own law office.

After earning his degree from Cornell University in 2010 and graduating from UC Davis King Hall School of Law in 2014, Kian began his legal career at a boutique criminal defense firm in Los Angeles. For nearly four years, he defended clients across a wide range of criminal cases—from minor traffic violations to high-profile murder cases, including several that garnered media attention and involved celebrities.

Kian then transitioned to civil and probate litigation at a respected firm in Century City, where he represented clients in disputes worth over $100 million. This experience broadened his legal skills, but his passion for criminal law led him to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office. As a criminal prosecutor, Kian spent over two years handling cases for the City of Los Angeles, gaining invaluable insight into how prosecutors evaluate cases and what factors can cause them to unravel.

In January 2024, Kian took the leap to open The Law Office of KR Magana, A.P.C., combining his diverse legal background to defend those accused of crimes in his hometown of Pasadena and beyond.
